Makgadikgadi Pans

Set in the heart of “The Great Nothing” are the charming camps run by the legendary 5th generation Safari Guide, Ralph Bousfield.

Ralph’s passion for the Kalahari and the Bushmen began at a very young age, as he was very lucky to have one of the greatest teachers and mentors, his father, Jack Bousfield.

With a pioneering vision and a passion for adventure, Jack embarked on a lifelong obsession with the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in the early 1970s, with a vision to start a safari camp.

After spending many years on safari, Jack was satisfied with the most simple of satisfactions with no appetite for frills and fancy.

Today Jack’s legacy lives on as Ralph continues to train the guides and pass on his encyclopedia of knowledge, and the utterly enchanting lodge staff make every guest feel part of their family.

Jack's Camp

There are 9 gloriously lavish rooms (270sqm) with over-bed cooling systems, indoor and outdoor showers and a spacious verandah with a private plunge pool.
